We are thrilled to welcome Deborah Marx, marine archaeologist from the

Dive In: Explore the Shipwrecks of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary
Saturday October 5, 2013, 10am
$5/child members, $10/child nonmembers
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Come in and talk to maritime archaeologists from the Stellwagen Bank National
Marine Sanctuary, New England’s only National Marine Sanctuary. Rich with
maritime history, this underwater museum located just off our shores is home to
hundreds of historic shipwrecks, from schooners to fishing vessels. Sanctuary
archaeologists will be on hand to show visitors the types of equipment used to
located and document historic shipwrecks like the steamship Portland,
lost with all hands in 1898. A mock shipwreck will also be set up on land to
allow people of all ages to try the techniques archaeologists use to document a
sunken vessel.
